International Paper donated a house once used as the company's Livermore Falls forest resources office to the Western Maine Paper & Heritage Museum. The museum, at 22 Church Street in Livermore Falls, will showcase artifacts and exihibits relating to Maine's papermaking legacy.

NotifyMD held a flag raising ceremony and employee recognition day at its Farmington center, to celebrate six months of operating as the company's highest performing call center. Currently the call center employs 40 people. NotifyMD hopes to be at full capacity with 120 jobs within two years.

The University of Maine at Farmington plans to build a new 150-seat performing arts center. The new center is being built with the help of a five million dollar gift to UMF from an anonymous donor.

Pike Agri-Lab Supplies, Inc. in Jay was awarded a seed grant from MTI. Pike Agri-Lab Supplies, Inc. will develop a prototype of a wireless sensor network for a composting temperature profiling probe to include a handheld LCD and online applications to analyze data.

The Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC), in a unanimous vote, awarded preliminary approval to the Berry family's 10-year, $150 million expansion plan for Saddleback. Catherine Carroll, Director of LURC, has said that this is the largest project that they have seen. Read Mainebiz article

MTI gives microSpectral Sensors, LLC of Wilton a development award in the amount of $349,556. The company will embed its integrated and miniaturized spectral sensors into a commercial sampling platform for inline, real time composition and purity measurements of liquid streams.
