What Greater Franklin Development Corporation is all about...Greater Franklin Development Corporation was established in 1998 by a group of local business people in an effort to strengthen economic development in the greater Franklin County area. Our goal is to create and retain quality employment opportunities in Franklin County by attracting new businesses, assisting local employers, and encouraging entrepreneurship. We are a nonprofit organization that receives funding annually through multiple sources: Franklin County government program grant and private businesses including financial institutions. Greater Franklin has strategic partnerships with the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments, Coastal Enterprises, Inc., Maine & Co., Maine Small Business Development Centers, and the Maine Department of Labor's Career Centers. Grand Opening of Medical Center
The $4 million, 13,500 sq. ft. Androscoggin Valley Medical Arts Center is officially open! Senator Susan Collins, who spoke at the ribbon-cutting, remarked that it is "truly a celebration" for Livermore Falls.

Boralex Purchased by ReEnergy
ReEnergy Holdings, LLC. has purchased five Boralex biomass-to-energy facilities, including two in Franklin County: Livermore Falls and Stratton. ReEnergy produces biomass energy by using forest waste products.

Geneva Wood Fuels Receives Grant
Geneva Wood Fuels, LLC of Strong was one of three Maine businesses to receive more than $11,000 in USDA Rural Development funds to support the production and availability of advanced biofuels.

Livermore Falls Awarded Grant
Livermore Falls Town Manager Kristal Flagg told Selectmen that the town's Communities for Maine's Future grant application has been accepted, awarding $400,000 to use to redevelop the Lamb Block on Depot Street.

Library Installs Videoconferencing
The Farmington Public Library now has videoconferencing abilities, one of eleven regional hubs statewide to participate in the program. The new software will allow people to interface with one another for business and educational purposes.
