Northern Border Regional Commission to invest $1.356M in six Maine Communities
Last week, the Northern Border Regional Commission announced it will award #1,356,000 in grant funding to improve infrastructure and to encourage private sector investments in six Maine communities. These investments include two communities in Franklin County, Jay and Kingfield. Jay will receive $250,000 to upgrade a portion of a municipal roadway and encourage private investment in an adjacent quarrying operation and granite curbing plant. Kingfield is set to receive $247,000 to partially fund upgrades to the municipalities aging wastewater pump stations that will support the town's expanding downtown businesses. This is fantastic news for these two communities and the surrounding areas!

WILTON - Barclaycard’s $5 million facility renovation, 100-150 job expansion was applauded yesterday at an opening house celebrating the project. The renovations to the former G.H. Bass facility on Weld Road will allow the credit card company to expand the local workforce from the current 355 employees to 500.
Wilton Releases RFP for Former Tannery Building.
WILTON - The Town of Wilton is soliciting proposals for the redevelopment of the former Wilton Tannery property, located at 833 US Route 2, in the eastern side of the Town of Wilton in Franklin County Maine. Route 2, is the principal east-west route through the central portion of the state, extending from the New Hampshire border to the Town of Houlton.

Sugarloaf to host US Alpine Championships in 2015 and 2017
CARRABASSETT VALLEY - The world-famous Narrow Gauge trail will once again host the country's best alpine ski racers when Sugarloaf hosts the US Alpine Championships in March 2015, as announced by the US Ski team on April 3rd. Sugarloaf has previously been selected for this honor in 96', 97', 06', and 08'. Jarden Plastic Solutions Awarded 2013 Manufacturing Excellence Award
Jarden Corporation recently announced the winners of the 2013 Manufacturing Excellence Awards. Jarden Plastic Solutions in Wilton was awarded the "Most Innovative Manufacturing Facility" award. In 2013 Jarden implemented lean manufacturing tools in an effort to reduce waste, maximize space and reduce raw materials and cost. Verso to Buy New Page Mill Property
Verso Paper Corp. plans to buy Ohio-based New Page Holdings Inc. for $1.4 billion in an effort to create a stronger, more globally competitive coated-paper-based business to better serve customers, the two companies announced in a news release Monday. The board of directors of both companies have unanimously approved the transaction and deal is expected to close during the second half of this year.

BarclayCard Announces Expansion
Barclaycard has announced that it has plans to expand it's call center in Wilton, adding 200 jobs by the end of 2014 with the first 100 being added this year. In a news conference announcing the expansion, Barclaycard CEO Patrick Wright emphasized that the expansion means more "good jobs" for Mainers.
